Whale populations have been very slow to recover following the unsustainable whaling activities on South Georgia (see timeline)

Visitors to South Georgia Museum have been recording sightings of whales around South Georgia from as far back as 1991. Jessica Richardson of Duke University worked with SGHT Trustee Dr Michael Moore of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution to plot those sightings. You can see the plot by following the link below:
