[edit] Current Staff

Ainslie Wilson has returned for a second year as Manager of the Museum after greatly enjoying her first term in the job. She comes from New Zealand and has a real passion for South Georgia's diverse wildlife.

Elsa Davidson has returned as Curator of the Museum for a third season. She will be continuing to develop the Museum's collections and displays this year. Elsa works full time for the South Georgia Heritage Trust and is involved in related research and educational programs when not in South Georgia.

Ruth Fraser has recently joined SGHT as PR & Marketing Manager. Ruth arrived in South Georgia in November 2009, accompanying her husband Keiron who is Government Officer on the island. Ruth has been working hard to increase the profile of SGHT and the Museum. One of her first projects was the creation of a Habitat Restoration display in the Museum to raise funds for the SGHT programme.

Museum Assistant, Bridget Steed, arrived in Grytviken with Ainslie in September and has been loving her time on the island so far. Bridget is from Scotland and is an accomplished artist taking much inspiration from the whaling history of South Georgia.

Hugh Marsden is our handyman, providing much needed maintenance in and around the Museum, Church and cemetery. Hugh has previously worked as an Antarctic Postman, travelling to various bases on British Antarctic Survey ships.

We also have our Taxidermist, Steve Massam. Steve is based at the Falkland Islands Museum and comes down to South Georgia for around two months each year to work on our taxidermy collection. This season was working on a South Georgia pintail with duckling (now on display) and also an amazing scale model of Grytviken whaling station.
