SOUTH GEORGIA MUSEUM AUCTIONS STUNNING ALBATROSS SCULPTURE

Sculptor Anthony Smith who is volunteering at the museum this season has generously donated a superb bronze of an albatross to the SGHT Habitat Restoration project. The albatross will be auctioned during the 2013/14 season to raise funds to help remove invasive rodents from South Georgia forever. The sculpture will go to whoever submits the highest bid by the end of March 2014.

It has been a busy season in Grytviken. January brought us to 79 ship visits and well past 10,000 visitors for the season. We often get asked what we do when there are no ships visiting. With ship visits starting to wind down in February, we have had time to do some non-ship work so we can give you some answers.
